This policy explains what personal information Chicago Traders collects through chicagotraders.us and in the course of trading with you, how we use it, and what rights you have over it.
- Information we collect
Information you give us
- Name, job title and the company you represent
- Email address, telephone and messaging contact details
- Business address and delivery or destination details
- Order specifications, correspondence and enquiry content
- Banking and payment details supplied for settlement
- Compliance documentation such as company registration and import licences
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser type and device information
- Pages visited, time on site and referring source
- Cookie identifiers used to operate and measure the site
- How we use it
- To respond to enquiries and issue quotations
- To perform contracts, arrange shipment and prepare export documentation
- To process payment and manage accounts
- To meet legal, customs, export control and sanctions screening obligations
- To keep records required by law and to defend legal claims
- To improve the website and understand how it is used
- To send trade updates where you have asked to receive them
- Legal bases
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on the performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and marketing a trading business, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where consent is required — for example for marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Who we share it with
We share information only as necessary to complete a transaction or to meet a legal obligation. Recipients may include freight forwarders and ocean carriers, customs brokers and port authorities, independent inspection agencies, banks handling the payment instrument, insurers, our mills and packing facilities, and professional advisers.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
- International transfers
Because we are an exporter, information is necessarily transferred between countries in the course of a shipment. Where we transfer personal data out of a jurisdiction that restricts such transfers, we take reasonable steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection, including contractual safeguards with our service providers.
- Retention
We keep trading records, contracts, shipping documents and related correspondence for as long as needed for the transaction and afterwards for the periods required by tax, customs and commercial law — generally not less than seven years. Enquiry records that do not lead to a contract are kept for a shorter period and then deleted.
- Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including access controls, encrypted transmission of the website and restricted handling of banking details. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We will never send you new bank details by email alone. If you receive a message that appears to come from us asking you to redirect a payment, stop and call us on +1 (307) 302-9682 to verify before acting. Invoice redirection fraud is a real risk in international trade.
- Cookies
The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to function, and may use analytics cookies to understand traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.
- Your rights
Subject to the law that applies to you, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, object to or restrict certain processing, ask for a portable copy, and withdraw consent to marketing at any time. To make a request, write to muhammad.control.w@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act.
- Children
This is a business-to-business site. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
- Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The revision date at the top of the page shows when it was last changed.
